Hello everybody and a happy 2016! It has been a long time since I posted anything on this journal and on this site. I've been really busy at work and life in general. I have a loving and caring girlfriend now that takes up a nice chunk of my free time. But I still manage to create art everyday at work as well at home.
So I'm sick today which means that I have some time to talk about what's going on with me and art. First bit of news is that I have a new job as a graphic designer for one of the largest wall decor company in the U.S. I have to say that I love my new job, work environment is great and my coworkers are awesome. It is a nice change of pace from the chaotic Silk Screening company that I worked for 4 years. Great experience but lacked incentives to stay. The new job has more opportunities to work the ladder of the company.
Biggest news in terms of personal art is my training to become ambidextrous and so far I've made a lot of improvements for my left hand. I've been keeping a sketch dairy on instagram to keep track of my progress. I have to date 280 sketches so far. I draw a sketch every day with my non dominate hand which for me is my left. Subject for my sketches ranges from fan art, animals, flowers, vehicles and a whole lot of other stuff. You can literally see my progress from Day 1 to Day 280. You can check out my profile at
www.instagram.com/artofmondo.l… I encourage any artist to try it especially those who do it professionally. I started doing it because I experienced carpal tunnel syndrome on my right hand which made it painful to work and draw. I managed to over come it by fixing the way I worked on my wacom and working out my body to fix any imbalances. The main reason that made me want to work on my left hand more is because I have two friends that experience far worse trauma than me. One works for Sony and his case was waking up to not moving his arm at all for 3 months. What does one do when you can move your arm at all to create at. He joked about drawing with his left hand, which made me think really hard. I don't want that to happen to me. As a person who loves to create art I made the effort to draw with my left hand, non dominant.
If you have had any kind of trauma from over use of your dominant hand feel free to comment below. Or if you are ambidextrous yourself feel free to share your story and reason to learn. Other than that you can check out my instagram daily sketch dairy at.

Remember, you don't work out one side of your body but both. Why should we only use one hand to write and draw? Hands have muscles too.
